podcast no 31 - wearing two hats

Play podcast no 31 (to save to your computer or mp3 player: right-click, then save as)

[Saturday evening] I posted the podcast this morning, having recorded it on Tuesday. I've spent the day assembling furniture, as I explained when I recorded the podcast. The delivery van came nice and early - excellent service for an order placed on the net last Sunday (we specified a Saturday delivery). Also the self-assembly furniture was well-made and the assembly instructions easy to follow. But enough of that, let's get to the music:

Winston and The Telescreen - Let's Pretend We're Lovers. These guys are from Riverside, California, and when two members of the band aren't wearing their Winston and the Telescreen hats, they play in the next band.

Map - Strange Girl. I played another Map song a few weeks ago. I heard Strange Girl a few days ago and just had to ask Josh Dooley from the band for permission to play it, which was kindly given. When I sorted out the running order for this podcast I didn't realise the connection between the first two bands. I only discovered that when I came to check what I was going to say.

Caroline Vinciguerra - Bella's Song. And what a fantastic song. I'm going to submit this one to AMP'ed, the "house podcast" of the Association of Music Podcasting.

Circlesound - Feel The Energy and Seven Days. These guys are from Chester in the UK, and make an excellent sound. They also tell an excellent story about how they got together.

Today's soundbed music is by Map, Torchomatic and Cagey House. Many thanks to Tragic Shellsuit Disaster for the opening and closing music, composed and recorded especially for the electrical language podcast.

Gabor,

I couldn't pick out one stand-out track on this show as they were all excellent ! Nice to hear Winston & The Telescreens as Molly From Omaha used to rate them highly but I never got to hear them until now.

I'll take a stab at what you thought would be the 'Grant' track this week: would it be Caroline Vinciguerra's "Bella's Song" ? You know I'm a sucker for that type of female voice ;-)

Thank you for making me discover Caroline Vin(chi)iguerra, I think I’m in love…
