podcast no 33 - do you know Mr Cairo?

Play the podcast (right-click, then save as, to download to your computer or mp3 player)

The title of this podcast was suggested by the fact that todays first band Beangrowers are from Malta, an island that has no snakes. Maybe the falcons got them. Enjoy Beangrowers' song You Are You Are.

The Voyeurs
are from Leeds. I played Pretty Young Thing in podcast no 2. I enjoyed playing that song again, followed by their latest release Under New Management.

Across the water in France you will find Mayday. The obvious influence behind Arena is The Cure. Check out Mayday's excellent music.

This morning I received an e-mail asking me to consider playing Shoes of a Beast by Peter Toh. Glad to!

Congratulations to 2 excellent podcasters who have recently reached 50 podcasts and are about to put out their first anniversary podcasts:
Soundbed music is by Williamson, The Midnight Foundation and Torchomatic. The title music was composed and performed exclusively for the electrical language podcast by Tragic Shellsuit Disaster.

Gabor,

I almost thought you were going to play Jon & Vangelis with a title like that ! I'll have to listen again as I was a bit distracted by listening whilst up a ladder painting the livingroom ceiling at the time. I did like Peter Toh, and the Voyeurs were great too. I love the fact that every French band I've ever listened to has that wonderfully clean, crisp and clear production. Nice ! (I'd recommend that you track down the mainstream French band Indochine sometime. Teenage summers in France left me with an enduring fondness for their album '3').

I don't know Mr Cairo personally, but I do know the films of a Mr Caro. Does that help ? ;-)

Grant
