podcast no 45 - Hungary Calling

play the podcast - 30:00 minutes (right-click, then save as, to download to your computer or mp3 player)

This podcast is for my parents, Almos and Maria Kovacs.

The Hungarian Revolution took place 50 years ago, starting on 23 October 1956. On 4 November the Soviet army moved in to suppress it brutally. My parents left their native country, amongst more than 200,000 refugees. Read the history in the excellent Wikipedia entry. All the music is by Hungarian artists:

Ethnosonic
- White Dressed Tears

Eszter Bartok
- Felhomalybol

Virag Keszthelyi
- The Call (Zoohacker mix) - also visit lushlife project, click on downloads then dj sets

East - 56 - I can't find a website for East, but thanks to Peter from tomtom records for permission to play this song, around which the podcast is built.

Ethnosonic
- Traveller

Soundbed music by the excellently named Gabor 13 (or try his myspace page)who is from the beautiful city of Pecs in Hungary and by Vayder X (as an update on what I had previously said in this post, although American,Vayder X have strong Hungarian connections. I'll post an extract from an e-mail on the comments board.)

The title music is by Tragic Shell Suit Disaster

New banner

I was tidying up redundant files on the host server, and cleverly deleted by accident the banner graphic at the top of this page. I couldn't find a backup, so I had to create a new one. The image is a detail of a photograph taken at "At Bristol" on 23 August 2006.

[Later] Yikes - I have just discovered that I deleted most of the photos on my photo-blog, and so I will have to spend a couple of hours uploading them again.

Links page updated

I have updated the links page, which now lists all the podcasts I subscribe to.

podcast no 42 - life ... the universe ... and everything!

Play the podcast (right-click then save as to download to your computer / mp3 player)

Ok, so the title is rather obvious. I was going to give this title to no 24, which I ended up calling questions and answers but decided to keep it for no 42.

The music:

nick+gerald - Clear Air Turbulence

Squander Pilots - Condiment (Gum / Invocations remix). Link to mp3 download page.

Spooncurve - Hurt Me, I'm Yours

Paul Aiden - Drag & It's Over Now

Recommended podcast - Well Made Music, playing excellent ambient, electronic and lounge music. Give it your support!

All today's soundbed music is by nick+gerald. the title music is by Tragic Shell Suit Disaster.
